Pond Underlayment
Pond underlayment is offered in nonwoven rolls of 60 mil fabric and this is also referred to as geotextile fabric. Pond underliner generally comes in widths of 15 feet but we also carry 5 foot widths for stream applications.
Pond construction involves protecting the main rubber liner from damage and pond underlayment is the best solution. This pond fabric helps protect the rubber liner from sharp rocks or glass buried in the ground as well as discouraging burrowing animals from chewing through and into the pond liner. We have seen mice burrow through unprotected liner especially in the fall.
Pond underliner is a very lightweight and amazingly strong nonwoven fabric. Since most ponds have plant shelves, this underliner easily conforms to the contours of a pond, much better than thick, non-pliable carpet.
We have been professionally installing ponds and water gardens for over 15 years and we use this geotextile fabric in virtually every pond and water feature.
