Lake Fountains

Fountains for lakes can provide decorative appeal and, more importantly, aerate the water for fish and help control algae and weeds.

There are two main types of lake fountains: (1)- surface fountains and (2)- bottom aerators.  Surface fountains provide the beautifully aesthetic water displays and oxygenate the surface, or upper lake strata, only. We carry the Kasco floating fountain for the customer who prefers this option.  You can also enjoy dramatic night lighting with one of Kasco's fountain models.

 Bottom aerators (also referred to as bottom-based diffused aerators) provide uniform oxygen levels throughout the pond or lake.  If your pond is deeper than 8 feet, then you should use a bottom aerator instead of (or in combination with) a surface fountain.  You may also use a bottom aerator in more shallow waters especially if you have a heavy fish load.

An additional benefit of a bottom aerator is that it can vent toxic gases such as methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from the lake into the atmosphere.
