There are two main types of pond or water garden aerators- (1) surface fountains and (2) bottom-based aerators. Surface fountains effectively aerate the surface water and add aesthetic beauty with their water displays. Bottom aerators will provide a more uniform oxygen level throughout the entire pond or lake but do not add visual beauty to the pond. Ponds or lakes with heavy fish loads, algae problems and warm, humid summers must have adequate aeration. We see customers every year, especially in July and August, come into our store distraught that their fish are dying. So we are emphasizing the need for adequately sized aerators for your koi and goldfish populations.
