Potassium Permanganate is useful as a control for a wide variety of parasites including flukes, fish lice, and anchorworms infecting fishes. It can kill bacteria as well thereby making it an effective antimicrobial.

It is also useful for improvement of water quality by oxidation of dissolved and suspended organics in ponds and aquariums.

This is a pure concentrate form of P.M. - use with caution but it is still considered to be one of the best multi-use fish treatments on the market!

Base application rate:  1 teaspoon per 600 gallons for most scaled fish; 1/2 teaspoon per 600 gallons for Orfe, Trout, Catfish & other sensitive scaleless fish such as Doitsu.

When adding Potassium Permanganate to your pond be sure to:

1)    Bypass biologically active filter media

2)    Make sure water flow and aeration are optimal

3)    Perform Five separate treatments in the a.m., each 

       one a day apart.  Fungi, bacteria and flukes take a 

       pounding during the last treatment.

 Always be sure to do partial water changes after each application of Potassium Permanganate. Perform a major water change (40%) after the last treatment.

Note: after adding this product the water will turn purple (or pinkish).  When the water turns amber, tea-colored or brown then each individual treatment is finished. 

Helpful Hint: check water color with a white cup.
